A LIFELINE community care forum is encouraging people to capture a snapshot of themselves exercising to help keep the community actively connected.

Your Voice has launched the #healthyselfieinverclyde campaign - to promote mental and physical health and help people make links in their area.

The team are asking people to take a selfie when they're out for a walk, jog, run, cycle or workout and post it online using the hashtag.

They will gather all of the photos together - and a virtual photo album will be compiled to inspire others to stay active.

Your Voice communications officer Stephen Harrison says the idea behind it is motivate people and keep everyone in touch during lockdown.

He added: "We're always looking at ways to try to get people more digitally engaged.

"This activity is encouraging people to think about their health and wellbeing and to build links with the community organisations they see getting involved.

"Our staff team are all on board and have already been sharing their experiences."

Alongside Stephen, Your Voice team members including Bethan Dunsmore and Erin Power have been instrumental in getting all of the healthy selfie materials together.

Stephen says that the #inverclydecares campaign set up at the start of the 2020 coronavirus lockdown prompted a great response from the community.

Your Voice set up digital groups and it continues to help people to get online.

Stephen says the #healthyselfieinverclyde activity will complement the amazing work already being done to keep people connected and to relieve social isolation.

He added: "Our digital peer support groups have been a great success.

"For people experiencing poverty, these groups are the highlight of their week.

"We hope that #healthyselfieinverclyde will create some nice, positive content on social media."
