THE Labour candidate in the upcoming Holyrood election is calling for 'fairer funding' for Inverclyde Council.
Francesca Brennan says an additional £1 million falls way short of the funds needed by the local authority.
She is urging the Scottish Government to provide more cash before finalising its budget.
The local candidate said: "Inverclyde Council’s share of the extra £94m is just £1.2m, which is over £4m less than what the council needs to just stand still.
"The current MSP might be happy with this - I’m not.
"The SNP government should think again before the final budget is set next month.
"Councils like Inverclyde deserve a fairer settlement than they are currently being offered.
"The pandemic has shown how vital the services councils provide are to local communities."
