AN Inverclyde councillor has backed a move to consult the public on the possible introduction of body worn video cameras by police in Inverclyde.
Tommy McVey, who chairs Inverclyde Council's police and fire scrutiny committee, says safety of officers is paramount - but locals' views must be taken into account.
He added: “Anything we can do to improve the safety and security of officers and members of the public should be examined.
“But ultimately these decisions have to be made, and rightly so, in partnership with the public.
“I encourage people to share their views on the use of body worn video by our police officers before the February 24 deadline.”
