A BANKING jobs boost in Greenock will help young people take their first step on the career ladder.
NatWest Group has joined forces with Leadership Through Sport and Business (LTSB) to offer 22 apprenticeship places at its Greenock contact centre.
The scheme is open to young people aged 16 to 24 who have been entitled to free school meals in the past - particularly those who are from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Apprentices will undertake a two-week virtual, interactive bootcamp where they will learn about CVs and interview techniques, hear from guest speakers, and take part in discussions.
On the third week of training, the trainees will take on some work experience at the Greenock contact centre, before being interviewed.
Each apprentice will receive a salary of £18,765.
NatWest Group and LTSB say Greenock has been selected for a jobs boost due to the high rates of youth unemployment.
A total of 150 apprenticeship places are being created across the UK.
News of the jobs boost coincides with National Apprenticeship Week 2021 which runs until 14 February.
LTSB chief executive Paul Evans said: "Together we are making a dent in the youth unemployment crisis and ensuring that bright, talented, amazing young people find meaningful careers that match their aspirations, talents and ambitions.
"We are a proud partner of NatWest and are excited about the opportunities that will benefit so many young people across the UK."
The online bootcamps will run from March until May and applications can be made via www.leadershipthroughsport.org/contact-centres
