A TALENTED Inverclyde two-piece are immersing themselves in brand new technology to perform in front of an interactive virtual audience.
Local girl group The Laurettes, made up of Lauren O'Donoghue and Lynette Beaton, are gearing up to perform to a live audience tomorrow night for the first time in over a year - surrounded by a giant high-definition LED screen.
The set-up from Immersive TV is being used by 23 Universe management to put on what is the first gig of its kind.
Lauren and Lynette will be joined by other Scottish artists and audience members will have a full 180 degree view of the performers - without leaving their own homes.
Lauren, 27, from Wemyss Bay, said: "It's such an exciting opportunity.
"While we've not stopped performing online, it's not the same when you're just performing into a phone.
"This will be the first time where we'll be able to see our audience and have the chance to interact with them.
"It feels like a 'real' gig.
"Even just something as simple as getting dressed up like we would when performing is going to be great."
The musical pair, who established their group in 2010, performed virtually throughout the summer and raised a four figure sum to help local people struggling as a result of the pandemic.
They established a dedicated online platform - Inverclyde Lockdown Live - where they played live sets alongside other local musicians.
Lynette, 30, hopes some of their new-found fans will tune in tonight.
She said: "We've managed to gain new fans from all over the world and if people can't watch the gig live there's the option to purchase a cheaper ticket to watch it at a time that suits them.
We'll be playing for 45 minutes and it'll be a mixture of classics, some of our favourites and three new original songs.
"It'll be just like a proper gig and some much-needed fun during these times."
Tickets are priced between £8 and £10 and cover the whole event from 7-11pm.
An Immersive TV spokesperson said: "Immersive TV allows the acts and artists to safely perform while their fans watch on from the comfort and safety of their own homes.
"This means people can have a real live experience at home, while also supporting the acts and the industry that serves them."
