FERRY passengers travelling from Gourock to Dunoon faced disruption after a man allegedly 'went berserk' at Gourock pier last night.
Police say they took a call at 10pm from a male who claimed he'd been attacked and robbed.
Around half an hour later, CalMac contacted the force to report a man throwing things into the water and causing a disturbance on the gangway.
Officers state that the man who called to report the crime was the same person causing damage to the pier.
The 34-year-old was arrested and he is due to appear in court today.
The gangway sustained 'significant damage' in the incident and eyewitnesses reported it was under the water.
The incident forced CalMac to cancel crossings early this morning.
Sailings have since been reinstated, with passengers using the Gourock boat steps to board.
