TINY troops from a Port Glasgow nursery showed what they are made of as they took on the great outdoors.
St Francis' Nursery class and their teachers were put through their paces in a sponsored Tough Mudder challenge to raise funds.
Depute head Carrie Murphy said the event was arranged because the children had been enjoying spending lots of time outside having fun.
She said: "They just love a challenge.
"We love it as well - you get wet and have lots of fun.
"Our nursery class is full with nearly 40 children and we are having great fun with all the outdoor learning."
The pandemic accelerated the Scottish Government's bid to make sure nursery children learn outdoors as well as indoors.
The St Francis' Nursery class was set up two years ago to meet the demand for extra childcare places following the introduction of additional free hours for three to five-year-olds.
The Tough Mudder course had all sorts of obstacles and running and balancing challenges before everyone made a splash with a water slide before rolling down to the bottom of the hill.
But just when the kids thought it was all over there was a final hill to climb and a tyre to jump through.
Carrie said: "It certainly tired us all out for the day!"
