FORMER Morton target Miko Virtanen has this morning left Aberdeen to sign for Championship rivals Hamilton Accies.
The Finnish under-21 international was someone high on Ton’s radar but the Tele understands that manager Gus MacPherson walked away from talks to sign the Dons colt weeks ago as he began to look elsewhere.
The Pittodrie club confirmed that Virtanen penned a permanent deal with Brian Rice's side this morning.
The 21-year-old midfielder had two successful loan spells at Dick Campbell’s Arbroath, where he won their 2019-20 young player of the year, before being recalled by Derek McInnes halfway through his second loan in January earlier on this year.
It remains to be seen whether any further new signings turn up at Cappielow before this weekend’s New Douglas Park showdown.
Ton boss MacPherson is still in the market for four more players ahead of the transfer window deadline at the end of the month and has his sights on potential moves.
He has previously admitted that he has been left to play a waiting game as clubs decide on the offers on the table.
