THERE are signs the recent spike in Covid-19 cases in Inverclyde may be starting to level off.
The number of infections has surged recently, with around 1,000 cases a week.
The area remains the second-worst affected place in the country, but the infection rate per 100,000 people has fallen slightly over the last couple of days.
It now stands at 1,177 - for the period August 31 to September 6 - with hopes the peak may have passed.
A total of 907 people tested positive over the seven days.
The latest case rate for Scotland as a whole is 811 per 100k.
