A GOUROCK man has been charged with carrying out a serious assault and robbery after allegedly going to a flat in Greenock and repeatedly demanding cash and drugs.

Ross Morgan, 28, is accused of compelling another man to remove his clothing after allegedly searching him at a property on Roxburgh Way.

Prosecutors say Morgan, of Cove Road in Gourock, repeatedly threatened the alleged victim with violence and repeatedly punched him on the head and body to severe injury and permanent disfigurement.

It is alleged that Morgan robbed the man of a wallet and its contents, a mobile phone and two sets of keys on October 30 last year.

A plea of not guilty to the indictment charge has been tendered in his excused absence from court after a sheriff was told that Morgan had tested positive for Covid-19.

The case is due to call again on November 9.
