MONEY raised at a summer street party in Port Glasgow will help save lives following a neighbourhood tragedy.
The community of Castlebank organised a day of fun in the sun as they raised money for a defibrillator.
Residents enjoyed live music, a DJ, cocktail bar, food vans, lawn games and face painting.
Raffles, a tombola and other fundraising activities generated more than £1,600 which will go towards the cost of a life saving device.
The fundraiser was arranged following the tragic death of a local resident last year.
One of the organisers, Katy Lawrie, said: "A tragic event at the start of last year made us realise that a defibrillator would be an asset to Castlebank.
"The street party was fantastic and we're delighted to have raised so much money.
"I want to thank all of the businesses who donated and who helped us out, and everyone who got involved."
Katy is part of a committee in Castlebank which also includes Angela Partington, Elaine Laurie, Kirsty Smith, Erin Deegan, Claire Lyle, Anne Lawrence and Stacey Cameron.
The street party was the latest in a line of successful self-funded events in the estate.
The committee organised an Easter event back and followed that with a spooky Halloween spectacular and Christmas gathering.
Plans are being put in place for more events.
Katy added: "People in the estate have really started to connect and get to know each other.
"Building a community doesn't happen overnight but we're really forming our own.
"All of our events are self-funded and there's a fantastic community spirit here."
