A MAN charged with assaulting Inverclyde Royal Hospital staff with a walking stick is set for trial at Greenock Sheriff Court.

Robert Robertson, 58, is accused of attempting to strike two workers — male and female — whilst allegedly repeatedly shouting, swearing, adopting an aggressive demeanour and uttering derogatory remarks.

Prosecutors say he committed the alleged offences in May 2019.

Robertson, of Birkmyre Avenue in Port Glasgow, has pleaded not guilty through lawyer Aidan Gallagher.

The case is due to be heard on October 18.
