MSP Jamie Greene says he is 'delighted' after it was confirmed that more than nine in 10 Inverclyde adults have been vaccinated against Covid.
A rate of 94 per cent of local residents aged 18 and above - 59,305 people - have received at least one vaccine dose, with 88 per cent double jabbed.
Meanwhile 74 per cent of local 16 and 17-year-olds have come forward for their first jag.
Mr Greene said: “Our vaccine drive is continuing to go from strength to strength and I am delighted that across Inverclyde the uptake rate has been so high.
“At the start of the pandemic it was difficult to imagine that we would ever be at such a positive stage with a successful vaccine which people have been enthusiastic to take.
“This has been made possible because of all those involved, including our NHS workers, support staff and those conducting Covid testing – I know our thanks as a community go to all of them.
“It’s also great to see younger people having been keen to get their jab, which will help protect them, their friends and loved ones."
