A TOP film and TV make-up artist is up for a national award for helping her college students shine during the pandemic.

West College Scotland Greenock campus lecturer Isobel Donald, who is highly regarded in the industry, lined up stars to inspire them during online workshops when face to face classes were not an option.

The busy schedule included a masterclass from the stylist working on Netflix hit show Bridgerton.

Some of the students have gone on to find work in the tough industry since leaving earlier this year.

Now the lecturer with more than 20 years experience has been shortlisted for an award in recognition of the talent she has helped to develop across Scotland.

Modest Isobel said: "I just want to help the students get the best experiences possible.

"It was very difficult for those taking the course last year because of the pandemic, so it was about finding ways to keep them engaged.

"They were such a talented group and all of them have went on to do well."

The HND in Make Up Artistry at Greenock, headed by Isobel, is one of the top courses in the country.

She works in the industry as well as lecturing and has been based at the college for 20 years.

Isobel said: "I love being a lecturer and giving people a chance in the industry.

"It is all about giving them real experience and there are so many opportunities for make up artistry students in Scotland right now."

Isobel has been nominated for the Learning and Teaching Colleague of the Year prize at the College Development Network Award.

The winners will be announced at a celebration ceremony at Radisson Blu in Glasgow on December 9.
