GOUROCK is to welcome a new specialist alcohol store.
Inverclyde councillors have granted a provisional premises license to The Whisky Room Limited for a unit at 53 Kempock Street.
Councillors gave owners the go ahead to open the whisky shop at a recent licensing board meeting.
The small shop unit will have one window and one door and sit between another shop unit and a small lane.
Lawyer Seamus Lamb, from Maitlands Solicitors, appeared on behalf of The Whiskey Room Limited.
He said: "High streets have been decimated in recent years, but Kempock Street has bucked the trend.
"This application is for a specialist whisky shop. It's not for a conventional off sales.
"The applicant believes that the store will attract people to the area.
"It will be an asset and fit in with other specialist shops on the street."
