A PORT Glasgow charity has been boosted by a £1,000 donation from the Amazon team in Gourock.

Parklea Branching Out uses gardening as a vehicle to provide training, work experience, supported employment, recreational and social facilities for vulnerable young people and adults.

The charity will use the donation to fund a new community greenhouse.

Lorna Sharples, site leader at Amazon in Gourock, said: “Parklea Branching Out’s services are of great therapeutic value to so many groups in the Inverclyde community, and we are pleased to support their education and training efforts with this donation.”

Mary Kane, an Amazon employee who nominated the charity for support, added: “I am so pleased to see them recognised with this donation from Amazon.”

The donation to Parklea Branching Out was made as part of Amazon’s programme to support the communities around its operating locations across the UK.
