COUNCILLORS have approved plans to allow a Greenock venue to trade permanently as a nightclub.
The owners of Industry in Dalrymple Street - Lapwine Limited - submitted a proposal for nightclub hours back in October.
The proposal was temporarily granted and the venue has been functioning as a club since.
At the meeting of Inverclyde Council's Licensing Board this week, Lapwine asked for the application for the late hours to be set in stone.
The application also sought to change the name of the premises from Industry to Text, and to amend existing opening times to 1am on Monday and Tuesday, 2am on Wednesday and Thursday, 3.30am on Friday and Saturday and 1.30am on a Sunday.
Lapwine has also proposed providing meals at functions including wedding receptions, funerals, birthday parties and retirements, as well as hosting entertainment such as quiz nights, karaoke, singing competitions and DJ nights.
The proposal also received a letter of representation from Police Scotland which detailed the need for working CCTV at all times, a first-aider and the appropriate number of stewards, as well as being risk-assessed in relation to each function.
Councillors Ronnie Ahlfeld, Robert Moran, Jim McEleny and John Crowther granted the application.
