THREE Greenock Boxing Club prospects returned to the ring to star in two action-packed shows.
Maison Docherty and Logan Scobie boxed on the Barrhead ABC home show at a few days' notice on Saturday December 11.
Logan was on first, going toe-to-toe with Austin Glasper, and preformed very well.
He picked his distance up from the opening bell and controlled the contest through the 3x1.5-minute rounds.
In his first outing since March 2020, Logan had a great 5-0 win.
Maison, just like Logan, picked his distance up from the start in his 3x2-minute contest against Barrhead's Sean Moohan.
The Greenock fighter controlled the contest with long, medium and short punches.
Maison’s movement and counter punching earned him a 5-0 win and he was the best away boxer of the night.
Maison was also in action along with fellow Greenock star Luc McCavanagh last Friday at Antonine ABC's show held at Dumbarton football stadium.
Maison stepped into the ring against Antonine's Callum Robertson in a 3x2-minute round contest.
This was a repeat of the Scottish final which Callum won on a split decision at Ravenscraig Stadium in Motherwell.
Maison over the last few months has been working very hard in the gym with his coaches Robbie McKechnie and Danny Lee.
This was a very close contest with the first round about even. Maison started the second round fast, controlling the contest from the centre of the ring, with fast combination punches and good movement.
The last round was again close. Maison picked up an eight count but finish the last round the stronger boxer.
The result was a split decision, with the contest going 3-2 to Callum, but it was a much improved performance from Maison.
Luc's 3x2-minute round contest against Leo Church was top of the bill on the night.
The Greenock fighter was a late replacement at five days' notice for bout which was always going to be tough.
Luc started very well and controlled the fight from the centre of the ring, winning all the early exchanges.
The crowd were all on their feet as the two boxers went for it right to the end of the round.
The second round started the same as the first finished, with two boxers unloading combination after combination until midway through the round when Luc was caught with a body shot and received an eight count.
Luc changed tactics, trying to box long and move, but Leo knew his opponent was hurt.
Through an onslaught of body shots, Luc tried to defend and come back with his own body blows, but another landed on the short rib and the referee stepped in and stopped the contest.
All three boxers were excellent and delighted to be boxing again.
Greenock Boxing Club would like to thank the Burke family for their continual support and a big thanks to all the sponsors that have helped over the years.
The club hope to have more boxing shows in Inverclyde next year.
Head coach Danny Lee wishes all the boxers, coaches and committee a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
