A FRONTLINE local charity has said that more parents than ever before were struggling to feed their families at Christmas.
Children in Poverty Inverclyde told the Tele that they have had a record number of requests for help ahead of Christmas 2021.
Sainsburys Inverkip stepped into once again support charity chairman Pat Burke with a much needed donation.
Pat said: "We were inundated with calls for help both from health visitors and other frontline services, as well as people coming to us directly. It was worse than ever with people desperate for food and clothes.
"So this donation from Sainsburys was so welcome and the money was spent on food.
Store manager Mary Beveridge was delighted to come to the aid of Children in Poverty and donate a £500 grant as well
She said: "The charity is amazing and we wanted to do all that we could to help families in need."
As well as providing vital supplies including food and clothes to families Children in Poverty Inverclyde also held another record breaking year with their Christmas Toy Appeal.
They said they were blown away by the generosity of people donating toys and cash to the cause.
