KEEN clubbers will enjoy a flashback dancing in a different decade as two local DJs re-unite to bring back a popular club night next month.
Kevin Hoodless and Graham Carson were the resident DJs in Velvet nightclub, which was a favourite in the late 90s to after the millennium, on Dalrymple Street.
The music mad pair are giving those who frequented the busy Greenock dancefloor one last chance to 'relive the Velvet days' by holding a reunion on March 5 at Donnachie's Bar in Port Glasgow.
Kevin and Graham, who are being supported by Karen Spark of Donnachie's to put on the event, hope to provide a night of floor fillers and timely tunes for revellers both old and new.
Portonian Kevin, who is still a DJ when not working as an ASN in All Saints Primary, told the Tele: "We had one reunion before which was a great success and hoped to hold another before now, but Covid-19 stopped that.
"We are so excited to bring Velvet back for the night and have already had a great response from former staff and clubbers who plan to come along on the night.
"I am still a DJ, but Graham is coming out of retirement to help make the night possible.
"We're so looking forward to it."
As well as playing the music which Velvet was known for, there will also be the chance to purchase cocktails that were popular on the bar in the Greenock haunt.
Graham, now an Aileymill Primary staff member, said: "Playing Velvet was always a great night and we're excited to see it back in action.
"We've had a much bigger response than anticipated and expect to see loads of familiar faces but we would also be happy to welcome anyone along who wants to see what it was all about."
Tickets are priced at £5 each, with a donation being made from takings to gambling charity Gamtalk, which is run by Port Glasgow man Paul Pettigrew.
Karen, manageress at the popular Port pub where the reunion is taking place, added: "It is nice to have events back now and I know there is going to be a brilliant party atmosphere at this one.
"We are all really looking forward to it."
*Tickets for the Velvet reunion can be purchased via the Facebook page at bit.ly/3gukmiq or from behind the bar in Donnachie's.
