A MAN is seriously injured in hospital following an horrific high speed car crash at Langbank.
The vehicle careered off the road at the village's roundabout on the A8 — then went airborne and flew over a stone wall near to Coast restaurant on Main Street.
Police, paramedics and fire crews rushed to scene to find that the car had come to rest in a wooded area at the other side of the barrier.
A number of vehicles parked on Main Street were also damaged in the incident, which occurred in wet conditions shortly before 7pm on Sunday evening.
One witness to the aftermath said: "I shudder to think what would have happened if a pedestrian was in line with the trajectory of this car.
"It could have easily have been a tragedy.
"It seems a miracle that someone survived this."
It is understood that two men were conveyed to hospital in the wake of the accident.
One has remained there with what has been described as serious but not life-threatening injuries.
Police Scotland has launched an investigation into the circumstances and enquiries are said to be ongoing.
