FAMILIES welcomed their loved ones home as the Royal Navy submarine HMS Vengeance returned from patrol.
The Vanguard class vessel and her 140 man crew were reunited with family and friends at HM Naval Base Clyde.
A party of over 200 people met the submarine as she arrived home.
Loved ones have not been able to come together welcome crews home since the start of the pandemic due to restrictions.
Commodore Jim Perks CBE of the Commodore Submarine Service said: βIt was a pleasure to welcome the families onto the Naval Base to welcome home HMS Vengeance after what has been a challenging period at sea, including being away from home over the festive period.
"Having the families back on base for the first time since the start of Covid restrictions definitely makes the homecoming more special.β
HMS Vengeance is one of the four submarines that maintain the UK's continuous at sea deterrent.
