KIND hearted people in Inverclyde have turned shopping into cash for local good causes.

Co-op customers in Port Glasgow and Kilmacolm have supported three different charities through the firm's Community Fund.

As a result nearly £8,000 will be shared among Man On Inverclyde, Morton Community Trust and Parklea Branching out.

Man On Inverclyde spokesperson Sam Magee said: "We cannot thank people enough for showing us their support.

"This will go towards running our wellbeing centre, providing art and music therapy that really helps people."

Morton in the Community chief executive Brian McLaughlin added: "The money will be used to continue our football sessions for young people. We have plans to expand it next year, it is a really exciting time.

"We are so privileged to get the support of the Co-op and their customers."

Branching Out manager Sharon Gemmell says the money will help their cycling programme.

Edward Mackay, of the Co-op, said: "It is great to support three worthwhile local charities. We would like to thank all our customers, this is all down to them.

"They are actively choosing the charities they want to support."
