THE Scottish Government insists it is fully committed to further education in Inverclyde.
Councillor Colin Jackson this week accused ministers and West College Scotland bosses of 'dismantling' the Greenock campus over closures and uncertainty over investment.
In response a government spokesman said: "We recognise West College Scotland as a high priority project and the Scottish Funding Council has provided the college with further funding in 2021 to support work on an outline business case for the Greenock campus.
“The 2022-23 budget allocates nearly £2 billion to Scotland’s universities and colleges, delivering high quality education and training.
"The college capital budget has increased to £74.7 million in 2022-23.”
