A GOUROCK mum hopes her new business will prove a cut above after she took the plunge and opened her own barbershop in the town centre.
Elizabeth Hare-McGibbon threw open the doors to the Gourock Barber Lounge on Kempock Place after being inspired to strike out on her own during lockdown.
It meant a double celebration for the snipper - who has worked in various barbershops including Gatsby's in Gourock for around 21 years - as she recently also tied the knot with husband Paul.
Elizabeth, 47, told the Tele: "I'm delighted to finally have my own place.
"I've been wanting to do this for a long time and decided not to wait any longer.
"It has been a quick turnaround, I only took on the lease in March and over the past few months I've been getting ready to open as well as planning a wedding.
"I've been working in Gourock for such a long time, so I've built up a great clientele who have already popped in to see me.
"I'm so excited about this next chapter."
Elizabeth held an opening event with fizz, cupcakes and goodies and wasted no time in getting down to business.
She says the venture wouldn't have been possible without support from friends and family, including new husband Paul and sons Lyle and Jack.
She added: "Paul has his own business so has been in helping me get the place ready.
"Eventually I hope to add more chairs on the floor and bring someone in to help out too.
"I'm really grateful to everyone for getting behind my new business and I am looking forward to things picking up as more people realise we are here."
