AN EXCITING new event proved a knockout success after raising over £6,000 for a local charity.
Ardgowan Hospice's 'It's A Knockout' saw teams compete in fun-filled events and challenges at the special event held in the Greenock Wanderers Rugby Football Club.
Hosted by radio and events host Gina McKie, keen competitors across six teams saw off rivals to earn points before being crowned the winner.
Taking home the top title on the day were the 'Karma Chameleons' from Karma in Gourock, but Ardgowan Hospice fundraiser Alex Mula says there were smiling faces all round.
He told the Tele: "The day was brilliant and we got really lucky with the weather.
"We didn't know what to expect with it being the first time we decided to do the event, but it went really well and everyone had a great time.
"We're hoping it will become a regular fixture in the calendar, we'll be bringing it back bigger and better next year and we're already in the process of securing the event for next year."
On the day teams were put through their paces with a series of fun obstacle courses, challenges and events.
Spectators were invited along to watch the proceedings before everyone was welcome to enjoy the catering offerings of the local rugby club.
Alex added: "We are delighted to have raised over £6,000, it's a brilliant amount, especially as it is really only our second event in over two years.
"The money as always will directly benefit our patients and families who are being cared for by our specialist teams.
"We'd like to thank everyone who took part and our sponsors the Exchange for helping to make the event happen."
