A GOUROCK golf professional who has worked in the Middle East has teed up an exciting new role back home with Trump Turnberry in Ayrshire.
Blair Harvey has been appointed as its new golf sales membership director - and says he is looking to build on the success of the resort's membership structure.
Blair brings a wealth of experience from the business world, having worked for Prosports International Qatar, where he spent five years as a manager.
He successfully helped to grow the business to become the largest sports retailer, distributor and events partner in the country.
Ambitious Blair will now oversee and help drive Turnberry’s membership growth with a number of exciting initiatives.
He said: “It is a great time to be joining Turnberry and I can’t wait to start working with the fantastic team already in place.
“I have an unrivalled determination to deliver on all business aspects to a world-class standard and am looking forward to getting started at such an iconic venue and golf course.
“A boom in golf in recent years means participation numbers are healthier than ever with the game subsequently thriving.
"It feels like the perfect time to be joining Turnberry as we look to build on our membership success.”
As well as having an established business background, Blair remains a professional player.
He started playing at Gourock Golf Club as a 12-year-old - where he remains a member - and turned pro in 2012.
Prior to moving to Qatar, he worked as head teaching professional for the Scottish Golf Academy and as assistant professional at Glasgow Golf Club.
Jane Frazer, director of sales and marketing at Turnberry, said: “We are delighted to be welcoming Blair Harvey.
"He brings a wealth of experience in both professional golf and business and will be a great addition to the team.”
Located on the Ayrshire coast with more than 115 years of heritage and history, Turnberry is one of the most famous golf courses in the world.
Its famous Ailsa course has hosted the Open Championship four times and is regarded as one of the world’s best.
