A YOUNG golfing champion who has been playing the game for just two years is already into the swing of scooping top accolades and dreaming of turning pro.
Jayla Kepler took up the sport at Greenock Golf Club after being inspired by watching tournaments on TV.
Since then, the 13-year-old has competed in countless competitions across the country, playing on coveted courses such as Turnberry.
The Clydeview Academy pupil has also made history at the club by becoming the first member to make it to the finals of both the junior and ladies contests at the same time.
The Greenock youngster, who is supported by proud parents Wendy and Colin, told the Tele: "After watching it on the TV I thought I'd give it a go, but ended up absolutely loving it.
"It's become such a big part of my life.
"I'd love to take it up professionally one day."
Amongst the many honours Jayla has picked up this season are runner-up in the Greenock Golf Club junior championship and winner of the Bronze Handicap category in the West Girls Medal at Troon Portland.
She also tasted success at the West Kilbride Girls Junior Open and a competition at Kilmacolm Golf Club, where an exceptional 50 stableford points meant she finished 13 points clear of runner-up.
Jayla, who practices 'every moment she gets' says she would encourage other young women to take up the sport.
She said: "I have been really surprised at how well I've managed to do, I'm really chuffed.
"Playing and getting experience on different courses has definitely helped me get better.
"For anyone thinking about pursuing it, I would say go for it.
"It's a really rewarding sport and it's been great to win different competitions this season."
Jayla's dad Colin says he is 'very proud' of her progress on the course.
He added: "She's doing incredibly well for her age.
"To see how many competitions she has had success in after just two years shows how hard she works.
"Who knows where golf may take her one day."
