GREENOCK Golf Club were recently crowned Inverclyde Golf’s 2022 Team Champions.
Their triumph came after an excellent contest at Whinhill Golf Club involving 12-man teams from Greenock, Port Glasgow and Whinhill golf clubs.
The competition is held at one of the four golf clubs in Inverclyde on a yearly rota basis, with this year being Whinhill’s turn to welcome Greenock and Port Glasgow.
Unfortunately, Gourock Golf Club could not take part in this year's event.
The competitors were treated to a course set up in great condition on a dry day making for ideal golfing conditions.
The format saw nine four-ball-better-ball matches, with each club playing two matches against the other two clubs.
Many of the matches were tight affairs, with six out of the nine games being decided on the last two holes.
Greenock ended up with four and a half points out of a possible six.
Whinhill finished in second place with three points and Port Glasgow gained one and a half points.
Thanks goes to all three golf clubs - especially the team captains David MacFarlane (Greenock GC), Evan Conway (Port Glasgow GC) and John Donald (Whinhill GC) for fielding teams in the event.
Inverclyde Golf would like to thank Whinhill Golf Club for hosting the event.
Greenock Golf Club gents team: Brian Cabrie, Murdoch Carmichael, Ricardo Dimurro, Paul Dorrian, Kenan Ingram, David MacFarlane, Paul McFarlane, Stephen Mullan, Crawford Rae, Alistair Roy, Alex Roy and Lewis Wilkie.
