A WEMYSS Bay butchers proved a cut above the rest by claiming coveted national awards for premium products.
McCaskie's struck gold with their gourmet pastry offerings, such as curry en-croute and roast chicken in a basket at the recent Scottish Craft Butcher Awards.
The brilliant butcher also took home silver for their sirloin steak and lamb wellington during the judging process at the Forth Valley College.
The team were up against 60 entries in the 'naked steak' category and 99 in the 'gourmet pastry' category.
Nigel Ovens, owner, was presented with his awards at a recent meeting of the Scottish Craft Butchers at Glynhill Hotel in Renfrew.
Tom Courts, president of the organisation, added: "We run these evaluations not just to award excellence but to underline the diverse product range that Scottish Craft Butchers offer.
"Local butchers are the specialist in our field and with customers becoming more adventurous with their tastes they are always seeking out the assurance of provenance that shopping at a specialist provides."
