A LOCAL pet and animal supplier has expanded into new premises - and also boosted its workforce.
The Petshop Postie has moved into Bogston Industrial Estate from Bogston Lane in Greenock and has taken on two part time members of staff and an apprentice.
It is owned by Kilmacolm couple Charles and Patricia Briggs, who bought the business in 2014.
The company provides a home delivery service to pet owners covering Inverclyde, Renfrewshire and Glasgow, as well as shipping products all across the UK.
Co-owner Charles said: "It is terrific to have secured these larger premises. This enables us to have a much larger showroom and warehouse for the next stage of our growth."
The Petshop Postie has also taken on Greenock teenager Jonah Fitzharris, 18, as a warehouse apprentice with help from Inverclyde Council's apprenticeship wage subsidy programme.
In addition, two part-time workers have been added to the office and admin support team, taking the total number of employees to six.
Charles said: “We have received great backing from the council which will enable us to continue to develop the business."
Wife Patricia added: "We have built up a healthy book of orders, with many loyal as well as new clients who enjoy the range of products and personal touch that The Petshop Postie provides.
“The new premises are ideal and its location and accessibility are perfect for those headed to and from work or popping into the nearby retail park.
“We would also like to thank Bowman Rebecchi for their continued support over the past few years and for supporting our integration to Bogston."
Bowman Rebecchi acted as the agent for the landlords.
Andrew Bowman, director, said: “We are delighted to continue to support The Petshop Postie with its ongoing growth and the expansion. This newly-vacant unit is an excellent fit for the next stage of their development.
“To see the business also being able to offer employment opportunities to locals is a further boost and testament to how well they have navigated a difficult period for all small businesses and enterprise."
