A DYNAMIC double act took on a challenge to cycle the length of Inverclyde - without leaving the gym.
Sandra Kennedy and her friend Irene Thomson took on the unusual pedal power challenge at Birkmyre Gym during Women in Sport week.
They come to the gym every morning, keeping fit as they are put through their paces by instructor Eilidh Cunningham.
The duo signed up for a National Fitness Day event where gym members were challenged to walk, run, cycle or row the distances between all Inverclyde Leisure's local gyms.
Sandra, 71, a former admin assistant at Newark Primary in Port Glasgow, said: "I started coming to the gym after I had a cruciate injury in my leg and I have been here ever since.
"I love the classes, the weights and then we all go for a coffee as well afterwards.
"We have made some great friendships."
Her pal Irene, who used to work for Clydeport, has been going along to Birkmyre to work out for the last 15 years.
She told the Tele: "I love the staff here, it is such a friendly place to be and I love the company."
The recent challenge saw members helping towards a collective effort of reaching a 60km target in a day.
Manager Brian Gilmour says Birkmyre Gym would love to welcome more people like Sandra and Irene joining as members.
He added: "We have fantastic instructors like Eilidh and some great members coming along, like Irene and Sandra.
"We want to reinvigorate people and give opportunities for everyone to come through our doors and join the gym.
"It is about exercise as a preventative measure to keep people healthy, that is what we are all about.
"We are very busy and we have lots of people both men and women coming in of all ages."
