PORT West Community Council have welcomed a date for the start of work on the new footbridge at the town's railway station.
Tommy Rodger, secretary, said: "Our community council successfully campaigned for a disabled friendly bridge and we are pleased this work will now start on February 6.
"The new bridge will help disabled people and and people with mobility problems get full access to both platforms."
When the new bridge is in place, the old one will be demolished.
Mr Rodger told the Tele: "Network Rail will attend our next public meeting in the Port Glasgow Town Hall on Monday January 30, to give a presentation on the new bridge, and they will also answer any questions Portonians may have about it."
