MORE than 300 shoplifting incidents occurred in Inverclyde between April and November last year.
A new report to the council's Police and Fire Scrutiny Panel says that local officers recorded no fewer than 340 shoplifting crimes between April and November 30.
Efforts to curb the prevalence of the crime in local town centres are said to be ongoing, with police currently rolling out a radio link system to enhance communication between businessses.
Officers also introduced shoplifting 'exclusion zones' to Greenock and Port Glasgow town centres at the end of last year, in an effort to ban repeat offenders from high streets.
