AN innovative fashion designer whose career went 'bust' during lockdown has moved her award-winning business to an iconic Port Glasgow site.

Jayne Lasley, owner of of Fairlie Curved - a stylish clothing brand for those with bigger busts - has opened a new base in the former Playtex factory on Muirshiel Road.

The 43-year-old launched her business in 2020 after stumbling across her old university fashion work whilst clearing out her garage having lost her fashion buyer job during lockdown.

What started as an Instagram account to give fuller bust bra reviews soon expanded into a clothing label which aims to give ladies access to specially tailored fashionable clothing to suit their needs.

Now working in the Devol Industrial Estate with four staff, the mum of 14-year-old Carrie and Alfie, 11, says she is looking forward to growing her business further in its fitting new home.

Jayne, who was listed as one of the 'Top 100 Female Entrepreneurs to Watch', told the Tele: "As someone who has a bigger bust I have always struggled to find flattering and fashionable clothing.

"During university I created Fairlie Curved for my final project and after finding all my work in the garage something reignited that regret of leaving it behind.

"I have been able to fill a gap in the market and offer ladies the chance to look and feel amazing in clothing that they can feel confident in.

"I started the business with just £500 and now have customers across the globe coming to me for clothing."

Jayne, who lives in Langbank with husband Keith, who is chief operating officer at St Mirren FC, also recently won 'Start Up Business of the Year' in the Business Women Scotland Awards.

She says running Fairlie Curved 'doesn't feel like work'.

The businesswoman said: "I love coming to work and love what I do.

"I work with a brilliant team too, including my own mum who was the inspiration behind the brand in the first place.

"The customer feedback is the most important thing to me - knowing that the business is having a positive impact on women across the globe makes it all so worthwhile.

"Everything really fell into place and I was able to use connections from my buyer past to ensure that the clothing is being created by the absolute best of suppliers."

Jayne, who has also taken social media by storm, says moving to Port Glasgow feels like a fitting nod to the area's history.

She added: "Moving to the former Playtex site is lovely, it feels right a business like this is back in the area.

"I'd love to see the industrial estate become a booming place again, it's an incredible place to set up a business and I've been so well supported."
