A GREENOCK man has been charged with failing without reasonable excuse to provide breath samples to police in order to ascertain his ability to drive.

Ajay Kumar, 30, is said to have committed the alleged offence at Greenock police office after being stopped by officers on Glasgow Road, Port Glasgow, on February 13.

Defence lawyer Derek Buchanan told the sheriff court that Kumar had not attended a first calling of the case because he is visiting his ill father in India.

A date for the next calling of the matter is to be confirmed.
