A NEW sustainability project is hoping to inspire people in Inverclyde to get outdoors and 'grow for it' this Easter.
Inverclyde Community Food Network has been set up to cut the cost of eating for families and help the drive towards zero waste.
The network has signed up community gardens, pantries. foodbanks, community centres and other projects across the district.
During their launch week - 'Let's Grow Inverclyde Together' - they will be celebrating springtime and demonstrating ways to grow food, share and cook it.
From Shore Street Garden in Gourock, to Port Glasgow and Inverkip Hub there will be lots of family events.
At Parklea Branching Out in the Port they are set to give away growing kits.
Development officer Julie Anson said: "This is an exciting new project to encourage food growth across Inverclyde.
"We have some fantastic community gardens and initiatives running to help everyone work together and work towards zero food waste.
"We hope as many people as possible will come along to visit the community gardens and all our other venues to see for themselves what is going on."
Fellow development officer Alice Paul said: "We want to get as many volunteers on board and people to see what we have to offer.
Julie added: "The network decided to combine its launch week with a potato week, hosting events in many of our partner venues to raise awareness of the community gardens and food-shares and to try and attract new volunteers and get more people involved in growing, cooking and sharing. "
Parklea will be giving their growing kits away on Monday April 3 from 10am to 2pm.
Then on Tuesday April 4 they will be running cycling and walking activity sessions.
On Wednesday April 5 they host a special community food-share event with a DJ providing live entertainment.
Through the week there will also be events in Shore Street Gardens, Gourock, at Belville Community Garden, Lyle Gateway and the i58 Foodbank in Greenock.
Blooming Inverkip, Craigend Resource Centre and South West Library are involved too.
Community cooking classes will be running with the community learning and development team at Auchmountain Halls on Tuesday April 4 from 1-3pm and places can be booked by calling 01475 791818.
