SENTENCE on a man who attacked and injured a psychiatric nurse at Greenock's Langhill Clinic nearly three years ago has been further deferred for a third time at the sheriff court.

The case regarding Scott Williamson had been due to be dealt with on February 1 and again on February 22 but was postponed again on Wednesday — in his absence.

Williamson, 35, repeatedly punched the male nurse and pushed his glasses so far into his face with the force of one blow that he sustained a cut below one of his eyes.

The nurse had to take a month off work following the violent incident on July 19, 2020.

Williamson recently became a patient at Leverndale Hospital in Glasgow, the court heard previously.

Defence lawyer Ellen Macdonald told the latest calling of the case: "He will be an in-patient there for some time."

The matter is due to call again on June 14.
