PUPILS at a Gourock secondary celebrated language learning with a week of activities.
St Columba's High held own events around the theme of this year's event - 'Languages for a peaceful world'.
The school's S6 language leaders visited Bluebird, Larkfield and Binnie Street early learning centres, and took the little linguists through the Spanish version of Heads, Shoulders, Knees and Toes.
Pupils also welcomed former pupil Father Jonathon Whitworth to the school and listened to his thoughts on languages and peace.
In classrooms, students learned Italian, Gaelic, Portugese and Mandarin, and also made teachers and school staff gratitude cards using words from different languages.
Students from the University of Strathclyde language ambassadors programme visited and spoke about their courses and career prospects.
The week ended with six pupils - Mirren McConnell, Michael Harkins, Reuben Ahlfeld, Jacob Hall, Nathan Hopkin and Aaron Fulton - reciting prayers in French and Spanish in a special mass in the oratory.
Emma Donnelly, principal teacher of modern languages at St Columba's, said: "We thoroughly enjoyed promoting languages, motivating our young linguists and showcasing the languages and cultures present in our local community."
