A PETITION opposing plans to axe a Gourock bus route has been launched by a local community council.
McGill's recently confirmed plans to withdraw the 540 service from Clynder Road from May 1 this year in a shake-up of their timetable.
Gourock Community Council have now launched a petition demanding that the route be preserved and are urging locals to add their voices to the calls.
The Tele told earlier this month how councillors and passengers had slammed the decision to cut the service.
McGill's have cited a rise in costs and a fall in the number of people using the route as reasons why they made the decision.
