AN inspirational couple have raised almost £20,000 for a charity that helped them cope with the loss of their baby daughter.

Rhianna Keenan and Jordan Provan's baby girl Romy was born without a heartbeat on March 3 last year at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.

The new parents were left devastated by their loss, but were supported throughout their ordeal by SiMBA, a charity which helps families deal with miscarriages and stillbirths.

The young couple have since raised more than £19,000 for the charity through a series of donation drives and are now planning to take part in another pair of fundraisers this weekend.

Rhianna, alongside more than a dozen of her friends and family, will be taking part in the Kiltwalk this weekend, while Jordan and his work colleagues will play a fundraising charity football match.

The pair’s nine-week-old daughter, Saylor Romy Provan, will be joining her mother on the Kiltwalk in memory of her older sister.

Rhianna told the Telegraph that the support she and Jordan had received from the charity had been incredible.

She said: “Jordan and I wouldn’t have thought to get things to make memories with Romy.

“SiMBA gave us a big box in the hospital to do hand and feet prints and take pictures.

“They also provided family rooms which meant that Jordan and my mum were able to stay for my whole labour and all our friends and family were able to come and meet Romy.

“They give memory boxes to anyone who has lost a baby at any stage of gestation.

“They’ve helped to make memories for our baby that we wouldn’t have had otherwise, so we just want to raise lots of money for them.

“It means everything to have those memories, she’s my baby.

“It’s like she’s been here, and she was part of our lives, everybody getting to meet her was so important for me and Jordan, it means we’ve got all these people to talk to about her.”

The couple recently raised £8,000 for the charity by holding a charity night in Port Glasgow Town Hall to mark Romy’s first birthday.

The pair have also previously taken part in the Kiltwalk and run a JustGiving page to gather cash for the good cause.

Rhianna says it is essential that the charity’s vital work continues to be supported.

She added: “SiMBA nearly closed a few months ago due to not having enough funds, but they managed to pull through and get what they needed.

“They help so many people, it’s really important that they keep going.

“We got told that Romy had died and then I had to have her three days later, but even in that time I never even thought I needed to order something to get her handprints or take pictures.

“They gave us all of that, having the pictures is the most special thing, she just looks like what she would have looked like.

“They’re just brilliant.”
