A DANGEROUS driving accused trucker charged with having an unsafe load damaged a bridge in Greenock by crashing his lorry into it, prosecutors say.
John Keiller, 50, is said to have driven a Scania vehicle dangerously and without a police escort before getting it stuck under the railway flyover between Dellingburn Street and Regent Street.
It is alleged that he had failed to properly secure and retract the load being carried, exceeded the weight limit and caused the collision on May 23 last year.
Keiller has submitted a letter to Greenock Sheriff Court intimating a plea of not guilty.
A trial has been set for October 10.
