A DRIVING whilst intoxicated accused who is said to have crashed into a roundabout failed to attend a court hearing because his car broke down, Greenock Sheriff Court has heard.
Brian Murphy, 42, is accused of driving his Vauxhall Astra without due care and attention and losing control of the vehicle in Port Glasgow on July 14, 2020.
He is said to have injured himself by causing the car to leave the carriageway on the A8 and collide with a roundabout, whilst unfit to drive through drink or drugs.
Prosecutors say Murphy also failed to stop and provide details after the 4am incident and did not report it to police within 24 hours.
He has pleaded not guilty to all of the allegations through solicitor Aidan Gallagher, with the case due to call again on May 16.
