A WOMAN will be reported for alleged road traffic offences after she was one of two people taken to hospital following a three-car crash in Greenock.
A Volkswagen car was left on its side after the collision at the junction of Forsyth Street and Newton Street, in the west end of the town, at around 5pm today (Tuesday, May 9).
Pictures from the scene showed one vehicle overturned and emergency services in attendance, with the surrounding roads taped off.
Police Scotland told the Telegraph two drivers - a 50-year-old woman and a man, also aged 50 - were taken to Inverclyde Royal Hospital for treatment.
The 31-year-old driver of the other vehicle was checked by paramedics at the scene.
A statement from police said: "The 50-year-old woman will be reported in connection with road traffic offences.
"The road was fully reopened around 7.30pm."
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) confirmed they attended the scene after receiving a call from police shortly before 5pm regarding a road traffic collision.
An SFRS spokesperson said: "One appliance attended Newton Street and assisted to clear debris off the road.
"The council was notified of a fuel spill and the SFRS left the incident in the hands of Police Scotland."
