WEST Scotland MSP Neil Bibby has promised to intensify pressure on the government to deliver on funds for a new college in Inverclyde.
He raised the issue in parliament after meeting with college bosses.
But he told the Tele he was disappointed with the response from ministers.
The Tele reported last year that there would be no funding forthcoming for a new campus, as college bosses submitted a revised plan.
MSP Neil Bibby said:"I think the worry now is that if we don't keep up pressure on the government they will never get funding for a college that is desperately needed.
"Instead, the college has had cut after cut.
"The recent job losses in Inverclyde make a compelling case on the need for a new and upgraded college campus.
"The minister talked about increases in capital funding for colleges overall, but that will be of little comfort in Inverclyde where the building urgently needs replaced.
"It is unfortunate that the Minister gave no clear commitment to accepting the need for a new campus or to provide the investment needed to deliver it, however I was pleased to hear him offer to meet college to discuss this issue. I hope he will do so soon."

In parliament Mr Bibby said: "Recent months have been particularly tough for Inverclyde, with job losses at Amazon.
"Meanwhile, West College Scotland’s Finnart Street campus in Greenock has expired and urgently needs to be replaced, but plans for a new campus keep getting kicked down the road.
"Does the minister accept the need for a new college campus in Inverclyde? Will the minister meet me to discuss that issue as well as support for the existing estate, to make sure that it remains fit for purpose and compatible with net zero targets?
In response government minister Graeme Dey said there had been 'an increase in the government's capital funding for colleges this financial year.
He added: "But I do recognise the challenge faced by colleges, not only around maintenance but in relation to upgrading and replacing buildings.
"I also know, as Mr Bibby’s alluded to, the Scottish Funding Council has provided financial assistance to the college to update the outline business case in relation to improving the situation at Greenock and if an opportunity arises to meet with the college in due course I'll be happy to accept that and discuss whatever matters they might wish to.”
