A SERIOUS road crash closed part of the M8 towards Inverclyde in the early hours of this morning.
A stretch of the motorway at Junction 31, between Bishopton and Langbank, was shut at around 2am and remained blocked off until around 9am as emergency services attended the scene.
Police confirmed a crash took place on the westbound carriageway involving a car with a single occupant.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 1.50am on Monday, May 22, police were called to a serious road crash involving a car with a single occupant westbound on the M8 between Bishopton and Langbank.
"Officers remain at the scene whilst enquiries continue.
"The road is due to be opened shortly."
Both sides of the road had been closed with a short diversion in place.
