GREENOCK actor Martin Compston is in the running for a major TV award for his role in an Amazon Prime Video six-part thriller.
The 39-year-old played Fulmer Hamilton in The Rig, alongside Game of Thrones’ Iain Glen, Schitts Creek star Emily Hampshire, and Mark Bonner of BBC drama Guilt.
Released in January, the show is set on a Scottish oil rig in the North Sea. Its workers are suddenly cut off from all external communications by a fog containing spores which cause behavioural changes.
The series has been longlisted in three categories at this year’s National Television Awards (NTAs).

Martin joins Iain on the longlist for Best Drama Performance award – with the pair facing competition from the likes of Brian Cox (Succession), James Norton (Happy Valley), Sharon Horgan (Bad Sisters), and David Tennant (Litvinenko).
The Rig is also in the running for Best New Drama, and actor Abraham Popoola, who played Easter Ayodeji, is longlisted for Best Newcomer.
The public can now vote for the show and its stars in a bid to get them shortlisted.
