A SPECIAL Wemyss Bay's Got Talent competition and games of bubble football were just some of the highlights of the village's hugely successful Gala Day.

The weather didn't dampen the spirits of families who flocked to the annual get-together.

Linda Knox, chair of Wemyss Bay Community Association, said the gala was as busy as ever and everyone enjoyed the day.

Greenock Telegraph:

She told the Telegraph: "It was a really good day, a great success. We were really pleased with the turnout, the weather was okay as we only had a couple of rain showers.

"The talent competition was really good, it was nice to have it back again and everyone enjoyed it.

"The plan was to have the performers outside but we had to take them into the hall."

Little singer Ellie Stewart, who is only seven, was crowned as the winner.

Other attractions included the bubble football for teenagers which was very popular.

Linda said: "It was the first time we had it and went really well. The face painting was popular too.

"There were queues all day at the Bay Ices ice cream van and fairground rides and our craft stalls and tea room were all busy.

Greenock Telegraph:

"It's a real community event, there was a good mix of ages, people who have lived in Wemyss Bay all their lives, who went as children brought their own grandchildren along.

"It was lovely to see everyone together."
