THOUGHTLESS fly-tippers have dumped a pile of rubbish next to a community centre in Gourock.
The dumb dumpers have been slammed by bosses at the Coppermine facility who discovered building waste and household items in their car park.
Senior figures from the 1st Gourock Scouts, who run the centre as part of a long-term lease agreement with Inverclyde Council, have told of their shock at the find.
Gary McEachran, assistant group scout leader, has called on the culprits to clean up their act.

He told the Telegraph the scouts were keen to ensure the problem did not become a recurring one.
He said: “We came in just before we had some parties starting in the hall and I could see immediately there was a couch and building materials lying in the car park.
“Obviously someone has driven here in a van and just thrown it out, the stuff was over the fence as well as being in the car park.
“It’s galling, as we put a lot of work into this place and try to treat it with respect.
“We don’t want this to be an easy target that people think they can just dump at.
“There’s CCTV in place here and if we can identify them, we’ll hand it over to the authorities to try and get them prosecuted.”

After discovering the fly-tipped items, the scout leaders contacted Inverclyde Council and arranged for the mess to be uplifted.
Gary added: “I have to thank the council for getting the mess cleaned up so fast, they really were great.
“Dumping like this doesn’t affect the activities in the hall but it affects the aesthetics of the place, it’s unsightly.
“We don’t want it here, we really are trying to improve this whole area.
“This place is used seven days a week now, we have people in every evening and it’s terrible to see people dumping here.
“It’s disappointing, there’s no need to dump things here when we’ve got places like Pottery Street depot locally.”
