A GOUROCK music producer has revealed he is in talks to hold a new music festival in Inverclyde which he hopes will bring people from across the world to the area.

Local DJ Bruce Glenny says he has been speaking to the owners of suitable patches of land about the possibility of hosting a major event in the district next year.

The talented musician wants to expand his existing local event, Terraza Del Clyde, which is set to return for its second year this Saturday at Royal Gourock Yacht Club.

The show is being staged by Summer Friends Productions, an events company founded by Bruce and his friend Dylan McFadyen.

Bruce told the Telegraph that he believes the event’s success last year demonstrates there is an appetite for similar shows in the area.

He said: “We had more than a hundred people last year and it was hugely successful.

“The thing we get asked about the most is Terraza Del Clyde, it’s so unique to the area and people absolutely loved it last year.

“We’ve approached four large scale venues in Inverclyde, when I say venues I mean areas of land like fields or open spaces.

“We’ve looked at places like the Battery Park, Gourock Park and the Ardgowan Estate, I can’t say where it’s going to be but it’s definitely on the cards for Terraza Del Clyde to be a festival next year.

“I’d love it to be a two-day festival but we might start it as a one-day event the way it is now, I’m not sure yet.

“I’d love to feature bands at it as well as DJs, we’ve got so many talented acts around here.

“It would be great to have a DJ stage and a band stage. We want this to be a platform for everyone.

“I’m confident that things will come together next summer, we could bring a lot of folk to the area if we get the right acts.

“It could do a lot for this town. Look at the Pavillion in Ayr – it had its own two-day festival and that attracted people from all around the world.

“I don’t get why Inverclyde hasn’t been doing that, especially with the amazing area we have here.”

As well as working on this year’s edition of Terraza, Bruce has also been in discussions about a potential UK tour later this year.

He recently made an appearance on GO Radio to discuss his career so far and has also played big gigs in Miami and Newcastle in recent months.

Bruce says that despite the recent success, he’s still excited to perform in his home town this weekend.

He said: “It’s going to be a great day.

“We’ve brought it back for another year and it’s bigger and better than before.

“We’re working in partnership with Shipyard Gin, as always, and Tonino's, who’ll be turning the Yacht Club’s car park into a pizza restaurant.

“We’ve got a proper stage and some big acts, including someone who’s supported Calvin Harris a number of times who’ll play a back-to-back with me.

“We’ve got lots of local acts in there, so it’ll definitely be one to remember.

“I would love to do two Terraza Del Clyde’s at some point, one in June and one in August.

“If it goes well, it’d be silly not to.

“I want to do more, there are limited choices in this area and I’d like to change that.

“Everyone’s mood and atmosphere completely changes when the weather picks up, it’s a great place to be.”
